Why Is Keyword Planner Pro One Of The Best Free Keyword Research Tools?
There are many places on the web where you can find keywords that people type in Google search box. One of the most popular sources of this information is Google Keyword Planner. Unfortunately, this data source is mainly for paid advertising inside Adwords. The keywords you find in Adwords are meant to be as a topic and not very descriptive. One way to make it more descriptive is to play with different options. But its result will be much more limited and narrower. In other words, it’s not entirely useful for content marketing, SEO, or blogging.
The best way to do keyword research is to access billions of keywords from Google Autosuggestions that people use to search on Google every day:
- Use Google Keyword Planner to find sub-topics and broader term for your topic
- Use Keyword Autosuggestion from Google to find out what people are typing in the search box for your topic
- After obtaining sub-topics from Google Keyword Planner, find even more keywords from Google Autosuggestion
Keyword Planner Pro Uses Google Suggest Feature & Adwords To Generate Keywords
What Is Google Suggest And How Does It Work?
Google Suggest is the feature from Google search. It was introduced in 2007 and quickly became the core part of Google search. Basically, every time a new search is performed on Google, many things are going behind the scenes.
This is extremely convenient for users when performing a search because they can see the search result immediately when clicking on the suggestions.
As a content marketers or business owners, you can tap into the potential of this features by discussing and writing about the topics and keywords that your target audience are searching for.
Google Suggest for Keyword Research
Google suggest significantly speeds up the search process and certainly makes search experience much better. But besides the core utility of Google Suggest it also has many other uses.
Search predictions are generated by an algorithm without human involvement. The algorithm is: (1) Based on objective factors, including how often others have searched for a word. (2) Designed to reflect the range of info on the web. Because of this range, the search terms you see might sometimes seem strange or surprising. (3) What other people are searching for, including Trending stories, and even before appearing in trending searches on Google Trends Trending stories aren’t related to your search history.
This means you will discover a huge potential of keyword ideas from billions of people are actively using Google every day. You can capture this untapped potential by using Keyword Planner Pro

Intuitive Advanced Filters
Apply as many as positive, negative filters and export keyword research suggestions into well-formatted CSVs. In the example below, I filter only for search volume greater than or equal to 10 to find all keywords with good search volume. This gives me 267 suggestions with the total searches of 52,790 a month. In addition, I only want keywords with the word “best” in them so I apply the positive keyword filter. Since now is already 2017 so I exclude all keywords with “2016” in them so the negative filter is applied as well. Here is the best part of the filters. You can apply as many positive or negative filters as you like by separating each filter with a comma.
In case, you need to clear all existing filters at once, you can hover the mouse over the advanced filter button under Adwords competition column. It will show you all filters applied and a reset button to clear all filters.
One important note to add is: every time you query for new keyword search suggestions, all filters will be clear. Previously, I had saved filter feature to allow filter setting to persist unless you explicitly reset it. But some users do not realize this and thought why they did not see any suggestions. It was because the filters were applied. If you would like to bring this feature back, please let me know.
And if you have questions about these powerful filters, please reach out to me. I am happy to show you how it works.
PA & DA from Moz
Who doesn’t want Moz data for free? People even pay a lot of money to see them. This feature is very popular so I add it as quickly as I can. Right now I only show metrics such as PA, DA, links metrics to help you find the best niche with lowest SEO competition. Moz actually provides a lot more useful data than just those three metrics. However, we have a limited screen space, so I only include the most popular ones. In case, you are interested in seeing more metrics or want to see data from another vendor such as Ahrefs or Majestic SEO, please contact me.
Did I forget to mention this keyword tool also provide social signal metrics?
I include here FB, G+, and Pinterest shares. This data is very important to build trust from your audience when they are researching about a product. It’s a social proof for readers. Not only that but Google+ is one of the ranking factors as well. Look for weak competitors that either does not have any shares or very low shares.
Advanced LSI Keywords
This is a key feature that will distinguish your page ranking with your competitors. If you pay attention to keyword suggestions come from Google Adwords, you will notice they lump in the search data together. That means Google will only show identical estimates for similar keywords and keyword phrases. These search variants are combined because Google is getting much smarter about catching mis-spelling words and words from the same origin such as “working” vs “work” vs “works”.
What does it mean for us to rank?
Besides from matching keywords, we will also need to have LSI phrases in our content. We will also need to talk about a number of sub-topics related to the main keyword we want to rank. Trust me! Other tools such as keywordtool.io or ubersuggest.io are not doing you any favor by using Google Autosuggestion because everything is matched exactly to what you are typing with little variations. For example, if you enter “keyword tool”, most of their suggestions, if not all, contain “keyword tool”. But what about “keyword research”, “keyword analysis”, “keyword planner”, etc… You know exactly what I mean.
With KPP, you will find this feature extremely useful to rank web pages. Your content will cover a variety of different sub-topics and contain many different keywords (or phrases) with similar semantic. I already have this feature developed. Now let’s see how I can bring it to everyone
